This year I worked on a series /collection of paintings to present to all to see , from the forest scenes in their misty workmanship to the vivid hues of the yellow and soft pink pouis that surround the capital of Port Of Spain in Trinidad ,,..........I am always inspired by nature .....some of the paintings have the savannah in Port of Spain in different moods from dry season in full bloom with flowering trees to the heat of the day in midday glow , savannah green shows just that a savannah gone totally green due to the time of year .....

some seascapes I wanted to capture as well and I did the shadows of Galera , one of my favorites ,

the joy of working on an exhibition is a good feeling , the new works are out there and the new style is out as well for all to see happy I was around to hear from three top artist that they loved the work , also very happy to see people enjoy piece by piece ...... enjoy this piece as I share it here in full with you no longer fragments but the entire piece ... titled forest rhapsody its 16x23 inches and still available for those interested .....

HOURS BEFORE THE SHOWING 29 TH NOVEMBER

Hours before the showing of the collection of some 30 works of watercolors , what goes through the mind of an artist ? well there are all sorts of emotions ... one being its up and hope all will enjoy it , ..... I have limited eyesight in one eye and the other eye is a lazy one that I do not see through ,so hear what happens I look at it this way ... its art by a guy with a great handicap , what I am able to do I have done for others to enjoy ......at the end of the day art is always subjective , I am hoping that my fellow artist will take a few of the above mentioned facts into consideration and they have been so very surpportive , , ...........the work is some of the very best I have done in years , its all done with love and a driving passion .......art ..... has always been a passion of mines since I was growing up winning two major art competitions island wide , many years ago this bouyed me further into continuing .....

The medium of watercolor is never forgiving one mistake and thats it , however we get along very well ....recently I completed three panels for a coffee shop, in acrylics and it was interesting working in this medium .... however fear not I am a watercolorist to heart ....

I am sitting here and wondering the response, of many as some pieces are very different , and different as they are they are an artist expression onto paper .......minus the flaws we are in the end bring somethging out of us as artist and people of craft

I am sharing on this blog an image of a painting in the stages of near completion on my work area ....all paintings will be up to be viewed fully so do pass by the gallery exhibit opens from this evening at 6.30 pm and will run till the 10 th December ........

stumbling through silence .....16x23 inches full painting on the invitation ..... it is a watercolor

Well its been a year for me of various projects I am sure to have a great deal to share in my Christmas email that I normally send out every year ..........I am content with the works that will all go on display on the 29 th of November this year 2011 , ........I have been very vey critical of them one by one , i am my own judge when it comes to my art as it is a part of me that I am putting out there for all to see and the main thing is to enjoy fully ......

I started working on a certian section of the collection then stopped after awhile on purpose to recoup myself or rather regain another insight to take it to another level and i did just that as the work will be up for one and all to fully enjoy at the Fine Arts Gallery in Trinidad

All are indeed welcomed to the opening ,

The work will all be hung on Monday and Tuesday morning so people can come to the opening on the evening from 6.30 pm to 8 .30 pm .....

All works of art have been completed for the show and all that needs to be done is gallery work ....hmm one more to do still , I need the right vibe to do this one .... I have an idea what I want to do but its to do it .......

a new work is completed

growing up in the caribbean this was a common sight, however it is very rare to see these days and one must take this sight in when one comes upon it , .....this watercolor nearly completes the entire collection of watercolors, for the exhibition this year , hoping that you will enjoy this small fragment of the watercolor that is really 16x23 inches , in real ... this is only a slice or a fragment of the painting ,....

a dark sky

Today I completed another work , I will have to decide about this piece going into the exhibition as its a rather dark piece , you know when using watercolors it at times does its own thing for you and this was the case with the sky in a way ... will load a small part of it here .....

Few colors used in this one yet the colors used were dark ones ......I remember years ago that a watercolorist in England painted only in very dark colors and all the work was very dramatic .... its still up to me to fully decide if it goes in ....

Two more to go ......

Two more paintings to do in my books at least ..... before I am totally satisfied .....I have completed mainly 16x23 inch watercolors only , with one exception that of a 10x23 inch piece .........todays piece .....was painted with five colors only , two greens and two blues , and a touch of paynes grey in my solution ..........its a seascape , and I am very happy with it .....so do enjoy the fragment, thats on my blog for you to see , I will have this fragment in my album of teasers on facebook for all to view .....remember its only a part of the entire painting that you are looking at theres much more to the painting than I am showing you at present ....

PAINTING FOR THE 2011 EXHIBIT

well I thought I would share a few things concerning my painting .....as time draws nearer , its actually nearly here in that I can complete only a few more pieces before I have them taken in to be matted up by the gallery .......

What inspired me for this exhibition ? well mainly nature and all that it holds within its very cosmos , we can see the beauty indeed , always one to bring this beauty onto paper I concentrated on certian things, about our beautiful island Trinidad .......this will be very obvious in the show, and what I am able to share with all who attend ......this is a painting one of over 27 works that is being worked on here at my place .........

Am I tired ? no I am not as every day that goes by , I am caught up in the world of creating art works , always on the look out for new subect matter , some subjects within the exhibition are replayed in several paintings but in different forms

A great feeling to be completed with the body of my work for my exhibition , ......I just need to do a few more pieces and see what will indeed make the show from what will not ......, Completed another new piece today .......reminds me a bit of the impressionist period , ......loving the colors that I used today ,as well as the compostion ,one that gives it its unique name ........I have always loved naming the works that I create , .......there is something in a name of a painting, or sculpture , that evokes mystery , .........

Well today I dipped my wash bursh into a heavy soloution of yellows .......ahh...... what a wonderfully beautiful color to work in .....in watercolor ........then blues were right there for me to let my brush take advantage of as I washed areas in blues ..... so many blues to select ....

Its always incredible ,just as I am completed the art work.... how the natural light is snuffed out with overcast clouds bearing down ..... well do enjoy this teaser that I have up here .... its original size is 16x24 inches .........and its drying away ...ready to be placed in with the rest of the other paintings .........

painting of the day

Today I managed to complete yet another painting .... it takes a good few hours , nonstop working on a painting , one watercolor I can begin at 9 and be finished at around 2.00pm this piece however was completed before 1.00 pm ............yesterday I shared in my blog that I had sketched the piece out....... Today I knew the colors I wanted for this piece ,.........the sky is made up of three colors and the foreground is made up of a good many colors , the entire piece is not up....... only a very small part of it is ..I have cropped it here to show you a fragment of the painting , ....this one was great doing loved the way the colors took to the watercolor paper and how it would seep into the other colors on the paper ....

As always the paper is wet , with a very large brush , then its under a light that starts the drying process of the water on the paper, so as I am painting I will add water from a spray bottle to keep certian areas wet to work with...... other areas in this painting were kept dry to get what I wanted .......its always a joy to complete one so do enjoy the teaser ......

creating a new piece always brings great joy to me ......I normally start off with a very rough sketch that I do in one of my many scrap books .........tomorrows piece will be one that will be a familiar scene of Trinidad ....a time of year that is only too well known to all Trinidadians ......to bring this piece alive I have incorporated another element that our country is also aware of at that time of year .....as many of you would know i work in themes always , so my new body of work tells a story most of them , That is .

Another piece completed ...

Today I dipped my brush, in a wash of cadmium yellow ,and then washed my watercolor paper for a second time ,the first being with a clear cold water wash , under a light to cause the drying effect to take place quicker than normal , ......many methods in painting a watercolor .....however one must work fast to get the colors to blend .

The entire painting has roughly five colors and no more , .....the teaser up only reveals a certian part of the painting, leaving sections out ,so that when you see the whole image you should go ...ahhhh .... it has been viewed by one person today and it won the ahhh, from them right away ,

detail .....some watercolorist will use this in varying ways , I have in this painting however its a free easy painting lends a beautiful peaceful feeling to one .... well it was tempting to do more work on the piece however I am always thankful, when I know enough is enough .with a piece that I may be working on ...enjoy .....the teaser the original painting is 16x24 inches .....

2011 art work comes to life

Well my friends today brought with it a new painting , one that is completed and ready to be signed ,....I have not signed one work of art as yet ...........todays piece , my brush dipped into many varying shades of blues, greens and pinks , to produce the final out come , ...........only a teaser here, or as I would rather call it a fragment of art , the original piece is 16x24 inches and will be a large enough piece ,after double matting and framing .........it was a piece that I did wet on wet as well as dry , giving two different effects , the sky was an outcome of all wet on wet ,and also the shadows were wet on wet, with colors runing into each other .......if you like to be in control, watercolor is not a medium to use as its very much its own person ,as it takes hold of your paper transforming it ...... my blank paper was transformed today do enjoy .....

Completed new piece ,

Well today had just the natural light I needed for a time , to work with on a new piece ,........I certianly dipped my brushes into the vivid greens......... and over seven hues of the color blue .....the piece I fist sketched out late last night from a photo ,I had taken awhile back . I had always wanted to capture it on paper , I surprised myself once again , this one will indeed be making the exhibition ...........at one point in the day natural light disaappeared .....and it was now a day filled with rain...... however the main colors...... had all been completed , earlier on....

one must always be careful working with a watercolor... that you work in good light, as well as work fast, in some ares of the painting unlike other mediums, I have to come back and work on it there is no fixing and covering up in a watercolor once its done its done we watercolorist do have a few tricks but unlike other mediums its one that demands translucent quality to shine forth .........so planning out your painting is very important

Colour is so very beautiful

Well today was another painting day.... I need to get ready for my joint exhibit , as it is I am in need of a good few pieces ,..... this year has been a packed one for me, with one main event taking a great deal from me leaving me where I am right now.... with work... to do so that many may enjoy ....my concept of this years exhibit , is a free one no theme , however as you view the work you will see there is a thread of a theme woven into each piece ,that will be showcased , .....todays piece was indeed a good feeling .....a passionate piece ....that brought out vivid colors , i had decided that i wanted to do it yesterday .....so I drew it out from my photos here and came up with what I did , started around .....9.00 am completed the whole piece around 1.00 pm .....I actually thought it was later, however do enjoy the teaser , the entire piece is 16x24 inches ,and the whole painting will be free for all to see during the time of my exhibition , let me know what you think of the teaser ....... till tomorrow when God willing another one will be up ............

painting away

Today found me painting away , I am working from a photo in the 60 s , I have this love for nature that todays piece is all ......nature ....an element of Trinidad so very well known to us all it is , ..........because I paint in watercolors the use of the night as a time that I can paint is totally out of the question ....the colors will all turn out different, by the following morning one would need to do nothing with a piece painted at night but cast it aside ,

So its day time ,that my most work is done , today the natural light was very good however my place fills with the natural light that is best sought after around 2 pm onwards to 4 pm , I can still paint with this light pouring into my area , ....this is good as the clearest of the watercolor hues can be used .....my work of today will be posted tomorrow on my blog as I would like to do one more thing with it ..... but do enjoy the teasers up .....this teaser is from yesterdays work ...

Today I awoke with the knowledge that I wanted to paint ,,,,,and I knew exactly what I wanted to paint ,,,,,,, few artist actually do know and plan out in their mind, hearts and emotions what they are going to do , I do this all the time , nothing wrong with this method recently I came upon an artist now a good friend ,and she ,,,,,,, plans long in advance what shes going to be painting ......

Well before painting I always give my hands as well as mind over to God ......

Todays piece was very enjoyable painting , took long hours to get the completed piece finished , full of life in it , I then started adding different elements into the painting that were not planned at all , its good to be like this ,........ we plan..... but the plan does not have to be rigid then the art would be stilted ....this fragment I share with you today is a 16x 2 inch watercolor , It brings me closer to the reality that the body of work is growing .

ANOTHER FRAGMENT OF A WATERCOLOR

Well today found me at my desk painting , I am in love with nature and all that she gives us in life , one day leads into another and my work is now making head way , I had a pretty heavy work load the past 6 months , still getting over it , I am not sure how I was able to paint during that time but I did ,

Loving the new pieces one by one , yesterdays piece , was in my books different for me and todays piece was also different ,......wheres the detail i will be asked well the piece I did today captures a great deal of it but you need only look and you dont get that feeling , well do enjoy the teaser the work is a 16x24 inch watercolor ......

Beauty is always in the eye of....... the beholder ...... well working with one eye and unable to use my glasses, in painting is indeed how I paint daily , .......many are unaware of this but I see only out of one eye properly and the other is very weak and the colors that .that eye sees is totally different to how we are suppose to see ,...... so one can only thank God that with the left eye ... I can see how color is meant to be seen in its vivid and clearest possible hues , .....

Todays piece was thought out well..... and one that has a bit of whismical drama, within it , its one of our many famed squares in Trinidad , ............my brush dipped deeply into the varying colors today and I was able to complete a rather interesting piece to the beholder ......I will display a fragment for your enjoyment .........The name I selected for this piece is also very interesting ........do enjoy and let me know what you think .....

all that is purple

All that is mauve and purple happened today , ..........this is yet another piece for my upcoming exhibition , its only a fragment of the work , ..... tomorrow I begin on another work with varying shades of greens and purples.... tomorrow as well as a pink , enjoy the fragment here ...........

ON THE HILL

ON THE HILL this is the title of this new piece ,.........completed today , all my blues and dark greens were out , and of course that touch of yellow for the sky , this one has a very worked sky .I wanted to bring the beauty of the day ending , On The Hill... is a watercolor 16x22 inches ,and is a full donation to a school thats building a study wing for their students , .........

I had great fun with the sky as I am sure many will guess , for those who like only one wash on a sky with watercolor this piece is then not for you, as its sky is done in the classical watercolor method of the 1800 s , where the sky was always the drama of the piece . The skies in those years were worked on, wash after wash , to create a dramatic effect for the viewer of the art .

Its a simple piece with many washes and much time waiting for the washes to dry , and times just going brave and working at it , ........with a waterolor you can plan all you would like however its never going to come out how you have it in your mind , this piece I am very pleased with ,as an artist ....there are around 6 colours in that sky , compared to the simple wash of just one color ,......enjoy it as I have ,.......

I will warn all to not try too hard, as to how and where the work is headed its..... different as I keep saying....... its not fussy , at all and many pieces are rendered in the very easy style and manner that I am very able to do ..........this fragment or sliver , of a 16x23 inch watercolor , .......I found great joy in working on ... the colours are intense yet not too intense it draws you into the very subject matter, that you will behold at the show ,.......this one will be stunning matted and framed up beautifully .....so do enjoy .... wish I could just share the entire piece however one day you will open the blog to discover an entire painting and not a fragment , ...........up to now I have not signed any of the works , all are named and all are ready to be shown .........

Another fragment of a new painting , a friend loves it it evokes certain feelings in her , so before it made the black case that houses many that the light of day will not see its out for all to see one good day may well place it in the exhibition , ..... its more than a fragment i share here of the work i did today .......its really simple , and i am tempted to go after it again but you know that will be a dangerous thing to do .... so it remains as is .........started off with great light today now look at it so it was completed in good time hope you enjoy .... its still a very narrow part of one of the paintings and a teaser at that .....

upcoming exhibition draws near

my upcoming joint exhibition draws close ......... many varied feelings flood me now as I think about the work that will be going on show this year , ... its simple forms, its easy style in so many of them , simplistic , ........the works are based mainly on nature , and as it is i have been editing the work now ..... i have cut the work down to 12 in all , one is not a nature piece , one is also a very large work in watercolor , .........my aim to share my work with as many who will like to view all the pieces as possible ........its a joint show , .........the fragment I share is but a very small part of one of my 16x22 inch watercolors . ........

All artist share themselves in their works ....today i was inspired to do a piece that will be shared soon , .............with the exhibition not long away , i am continually painting sometimes resting .... those are moments of divine inspiration ...........

getting ready

Getting ready for this exhibit is quite interesting ,.......I normally like to show new pieces of art done only in the year that I have my exhibit .........only one other piece that has been seen this year will be shown , ......working with watercolors is a dream to me , yes I have painted in acrylics ...... but watercolors remain my favoured medium , ........the fragment of a painting I share here is one of a collection that I hope each and everyone of you will enjoy this November , I am showing this collection for the joy of it , one night I will blog and will load on my page an entire image of one painting..... so do keep..... checking.... the blogs out , all are invited to the exhibit this year without exception .......as art is for all to appreciate , this fragment looks so good that i may look at doing a size like this and a composition similar , remember always I use no glasses... when painting , as well as I have the use of only one eye , this could be my very last exhibition in this genere of work , the eyes are growing tired ............follow my blogs as I share

inspired

When one is inspired ..... its is true grace , when a writer, a poet ,an artist, is inspired its a true opening up of another world altogether .......this fragment is from a painting that was done in a garden setting outdoors ....the inspiration was the natural beauty that wrapped me from left to right ..... it was incredible the foilage ,the plants all became different to me all subjects to paint ......all cried out to be placed on the paper in whatever form I decided , it was a difficult decision to select what out of this vast garden I wanted to paint , but select I did and as I worked on the piece, the beauty of the paint took over and it is what I call a painting that was totally inspired , named it after the owner of the beautiful house and the beds of foilage that greeted me daily ........only a fragment here of a 16x22 inch watercolor on acid free paper the work is different and I love it , ......the entire piece will be up on a wall at Fine ART GALLERY this November .......

fragments of a painting for exhibition this year

this year is a year that I host my first joint exhibition .....with two other artist .....the pressure is not as it use to be in the volume of work needed of years gone by . I am doing different things and enjoying them as I go along , two of the paintings were seen by a close friend just by chance and they wanted one right away , needless to say I am very guarded with this set of work , recently editing to 12 pieces only ..... out of a good few that have been painted over the few months , painting has drawn to a halt as I am into another project and I relish the breaks as I am given ideas as these break happen to continue on various pieces , hope you like the piece or fragment of this work, its a 16x22 inch watercolor , all my paintings are on the most expensive watercolor acid free paper , I deem the work always precious ........This fragment is but only part of a painting so not a whole work so dont be fooled , the real thing is indeed different .......

Two paintings completed

Today everything fell into place , .........I have always given to certian charities ...over the years , and today . I have managed to complete two 15x11 inch watercolors , that are a pair , these two paintings are for a charity ,Golph tournament, that raises money every year for my Community , .......I try to do new work for all charities .......and so happens I am not the only artist in Trinidad and Tobago that does this either .......the pieces were a joy to paint side by side I started with the general washes, laying those out then the waiting is always needed, one can never wait too long ..........or certian effects will be lost altogether ,

I worked on each piece seperately to complete them afterwards , .....misty effects etc , plus the foreground, and whatever else I needed to do , started from early this morning and by 12.45 , they were completed and photographed .......no..1 is Titled .... Within the Tangle , no 2 ..is Titled ....... Out There ........... DO ENJOY THE WORKS they are full paintings and not fragments like I have been sharing for my exhibition ........

fragments of an exhibition to come ......................................these are sharings on some of the works, that are fully completed ...................the fragment from this painting , happens to be one of my favorites , this was inspired painting , I may even keep this one , as it has so much in it that I love , ........a watercolor , of 16x22 inches, on acid free paper , this piece will be on show in November , in the last week , ...............if you are a lover of watercolors , you will like this one , the collection is building,........ as I work this week on two pieces for the show .........so do enjoy this fragment............ of one of my paintings the entire painting will one day be up so that you can see the whole of it .......

PAINTING FOR THE 2011 EXHIBIT

Well , many keep asking how I do it .... that is paint ..... process is very simple , oh so I think ......I wet my entire watercolor sheet first ,with cold water only then I pass a sponge to remove all the excess water .....then I pass a big flat brush loaded with water over the entire surface of the paper , ..........for years now I have been working with the use of my brush as a pencil in that I will lay everything in as I go along ....the only subject matter I will ever draw out very lightly will be an old house , all nature scenes ,sescapes, etc, are not drawn by pencil .....enjoy

once the sheet is wet the second time i will wait a bit to allow for it to semi dry not long though as i may want to put my sky in and establish areas of light in the piece

i mix lage glass bowls with one color and begin from there to load the paint and build up in washes

smaller cups are used so as to keep some colors more intense , and the cups may well be filled with water and the various colors , all before i begin as once I start i dont like to stop

when doing a watercolor one must have endless patience and time , one 16x22 inch piece can take an entire day to two days and i paint quickly , ..... well i am sharing a fragnebt of a piece that was done for the exhibit its long completed in my folder to be signed and framed .....

FRAGMENT OF A PAINTING

Art works in fragments.... this time the real deal is when you attend the exhibition , the works will only be going up on my website after the exhibition.... plus here on facebook I will share one piece only before the show ......this fragment is realy a very small part of the entire painting , the life of an artist , ... I dream shades of colors , I walk around looking up in the sky at the formation of clouds , I walk seconds away from missing a car ,or two by looking in another direction as I hold my cell phone up to take a picture ,of a beautiful sunset or mountian range , .......artist we are but dreamers .... yet the beauty of it is we love to try and bring our dreams onto paper .......this year my style is different , my works are easy on the eyes as well as full of colour and light ..... an artist statement is being painted as I do my various pieces for the show , .....enjoy the fragment of a larger work ..............

Art painting for enjoyment

Its always fun to just paint away for enjoyment , this has been the main thing ,with my art this year as I get ready for the 2011 exhibition , totally enjoying it all , .........did a piece that took a good few days , all because I was enjoying it and not letting the task of producing art get in my way , its a wonderful feeling to just paint , I am looking forward to tomorrow when I will be headed out to paint with a group of really wonderful artist , .... I am looking at doing a nature scene ......that I will share in total when its completed tomorrow , this piece is but only another teaser of one of the works that is ready to be matted and framed .......soi do enjoy ...... remember that light is a main factor in this upcoming exhibit of new works , ....as well as colour , painting the use of no glasses and only with one good eye is not a problem for me however its a novelty..... that sparks many a question ,

Painting ... as a gift for a friends 60 th birthday ........this piece is an acrylic , it came out very beautiful i was very happy with it , I have painted endless pink pouis all i have none of as they sell off as soon as they are seen most of them however are all in watercolor .

The piece is a 10x8 acrylic ........and has other flowering pouis in the distance ......

GINGERBREAD WONDER

Well I did share.... that I would share the photo soon , and here it is of the todays full work ...... must have stopped for two cups of coffee , began from..... 9 .00 am onwards to past 4.00 pm ........never sure about these old icons , that remain with us , as it is its been painted so very many times I had stayed away from doing this one..... however I wanted to and as I shared in my former blog about it , I loved working with the various shades and hues , especially the bright gallery .....detail will be always there however its a freer style, that is here not a close knitted style ,that many know of detail , so enjoy.... THE GINGERBREAD WONDER .....is the title , the medium is watercolor and the size is 16x22 inches , where is it now ?....... awaiting framing and then off to a special event ........

A drawing .....from a picture ...... old home Port of Spain

Port of Spain .... has lost so many of its ,quaint old homes , and the larger ones , some are now car parks , others just open areas with nothing happening.... its rather sad , this piece was done for a friends 5o th birthday , last year .....

I am a lover of sketches , roughly done , I had a great time with this as I looked at the old photo of the house in front of me, and tried to bring it back to life on paper , .... I uesd a very fine drawing paper and built up my shading , as I went along , .... when I was doing this piece I contemplated ,on doing a series of old little buildings ......that are still scattered ,here and there in...... Trinidad, its still a thought that might be brought to life one day .....for my exhibit this year I even thought of doing a few sketches ... but the work does not lend to the incorporation of drawings .... hope you will enjoy .....

Well today found me painting all day . a rather , beautiful old place that many people pass daily , I had wanted to do a painting of it on the spot , but I am not great at the hot weather and the constant people, looking to see what i am painting, plus all the various questions asked by them , if I dont answer then I am looked upon as rude , However people really do not understand that the part of the brain that engages in conversation.... is the said part that is the side of creativity ......So I opted out to paint indoors today , hence my eternal back pain has come into play once again ..... What did I paint.... well its one of our most beautiful icons the gingerbread house ,that is well known by many , I am doubtful always at attempting a well known icon , however , I have painted Bagshot, and a few others and they are all hanging in peoples homes...... so I took a shot at this beauty , painted all day from............... 9 am till 4,55 pm ........, yes the back hurts but the final outcome of the art looks good ....

I am however tempted not to frame it, or show it I am one that finds continual fault in my art and unlike many people who may love it ,....... I am still letting it grow upon me , ....I have called it................................. THE GINGERBREAD WONDER ......its 16x22 inches ,

At first i was warned about the mint color of the gallery, of the said house , however as I opened my art box I discovered after some digging that mint green was a full tube of watercolor paint that I had bought many years ago ,....... now it was going to be used ...

On completion of the work ..... I observered horror of horrors .... that it was at a slight slant , now what do I do ..... DO I CUT THE PAINTING ? .......well I remember a famous artist pulling me aside once telling me... that......" nothing is ever perfect.," so these are the things we will find in art ,

Well I have not signed the piece yet.... but its a full days work , and for an event , that I did it for , unlike many other artist I have no one to tell me how it looks , so I am thinking it could very well in all its beauty join the 15 plus ginger bread houses..... that are within a black folder here at my place....... these works will never see the day of light as long as I live .......

However I will eventually share the completed work here on my blog . I will share the pic that I worked with ,..... did anyone say detail ? yes loads of it , but differently done by me unlike the other gingerbread houses that I have done in the past it was a very free style , do enjoy when I load it on my blog ....

painting

The last two weeks found me painting i have completed some different work ...that I am very happy with as an artist , I am yet to share the work here in images , I will most probably share some images nearer the time of the exhibition , ...........the colours are wonderful , ... I do a great deal of editing of paintings ,,that will be in the show ,from those that no one will ever see , ......to date I have completed over 20 pieces ,however only 12 ,have been the ones that I feel will look good together within the collection that I am building , ........today was an off day to paint with the weather being like it was ....the natural light..... I need , and this was not good at all .
The hope is that people will enjoy the new works as a body or collection , the theme I will also hold for awhile ,
recently did one piece that smacks of beauty , I am hoping to hold onto this particular piece , I did this piece while house sitting , and only two people have seen it , one saw it completed in its fullness , I have named it after the lady of the house as well , so many a surprises await ,

painting with this colour that i am writing the blog in ,,, as the main color for the next work i am doing .......thought i would share my thoughts ,about my work that i am currently getting done ...... last two weeks i have completed quite a great deal of art work,,, all in watercolor .......the pieces i did the week before were for a charity event ................well i know many have been asking, how many pieces i am going to have this year,,,,,, well its a joint show with two other artist ..... and the work i normally do is in themes , i have been working on piece ,after piece from the very start of the year ........three different pieces have been completed this very week , i consider them WOWS and i am hoping all will enjoy the work to be exhibited in November this year ....... the piece that is up is not one of them but rather a watercolour, that was painted for the May Art Society ,show this year , its now in my corridor hanging ........waiting to go into a gallery ......

sharing about my thoughts on art here

dear friends .....how does an artist mind work ? well i could not tell you how ...i am still trying to figure out why i tend to be too disciplined in how i go about my process of painting etc .....however recently after each piece i painted i did not sign them ,..... aha thats a break from discipline ... and have just stored them away ......i am big into nature , and i guess this body of work that i am doing, is under my very critical eye , many a piece will never be seen, if i am not happy with how they all relate to one another , ......madness yes madness... lol .......i normally have a full display of all completed pieces on the floor looking at each one , and eventually i will say nope not you sorry , recently with 12 pieces painted only 8 will see the light of day for viewing public ......its fun putting together an exhibition this year i am happy its a joint one of three people, myself and two others ,totally different styles .....this should keep everyone interested .....What are my deepest ,inner most thoughts right now.. well to be honest i am wondering, it could be the last body of work i place together , my eyes are not what they use to be ......and for many of you who are aware i paint without the aid of my glasses as well as with one eye ...the other is a lazy muscle and dont see out of it when painting or doing most things the vision is limited in that one , ........i am however happy with those pieces that will be on show , ......follow me as i share my inner thoughts feelings as we head down the avenue of art ....where is that some may say its all in another world that i drift away into of colours etc ....

Painting for the new exhibition

hi to one and all , today i started on a new piece i would say its 99 percent completed , its just lying on my work table now and whenever i pass by it i will look at it to see what its missing or could have had in it , its a 16x22 inch piece and this one sets the tone for all the other pieces are now throughly connected , its amazing , .......i have decided not to frame any of the work this year but only double mat each piece , the buyers can look after the framing as well as storing is easier , .... i am also thinking that i may send work abroad to be housed in a gallery , ......well i am looking at 20 pieces in all the exhibit is a joint one with two other people ........i am going to load a picture of my work area so that you get an idea the space i paint in as well as what i use to put my paints etc in , .......well follow me as i paint one day i may surprise you and just place one piece up ..........

new painting number 9

dear art lovers and friends , .... I am in the full swing getting works ready for my show just completed number 9 , but its good to edit as one goes along , .....this piece took me sometime why ? I am not sure but it is completed ,and will be stored with the others tomorrow morning early .....I love doing many layering of washes, it always depends on the feel of the piece this one had a few very opaque washes done to it .... its very interesting when the painting takes another turn and comes out a bit different, to how you desired it , I love the use of watercolours and this whole series I am working between wet and dry with the paint to create what I am looking for .... well no images of any new pieces as yet ,...... surprises are always the very best things in life.... thought i would be bright with this posting here ..... if you are living in Trinidad ..right now you would have seen the beauty of creation ,as the pink poius have out done themselves this year all bursting into full bloom the savannah is covered in pink blooms, one feels to lay in this carpet of pink, i nearly stopped the taxi today to jump out and lay in the natural carpet of beauty ,......well this much i can share... this years exhibition will have a few pink pouis in it , all 16x22 inches,,, one has already been completed and its very captivating as i have used varying pinks to capture this beauty of trees , my watercolours are not dull watery ones as many will note i love the bight colours of the caribbean , .....i will load here a pink pouis i had painted some years ago , the one i have completed is nothing like this , as i shared i will not be sharing images of any of those works till exhibition time ........

work in progress

hi there all .... follow me as I paint .......... share my thoughts as well as the very methods, I am using to do this body of work for my 2011 art exhibition ,...... a few friends have asked to see the work I am now in the process of doing and I have had to turn the offer down , I find once I start painting for a show the work becomes very private ,in that the pieces are stored unframed and no one sees them... at all ...till I carry them into the gallery ..... this body of work is within a theme, like all other body of works I have done over the years , .......no small ones this rounds ...just nice 16x22 inch sizes ....all watercolour .... and this is always interesting working in this medium .... the piece I completed today , in this medium was fun doing a wet and dry technique I am using in that there are a few washes not many, but a few to build on I love doing transparent washes ,and thick ones as well , todays piece came out really well and I am very pleased with it overall , ........with another work in mind to be done I normally scan a great deal of images , look and study them this, is work in itself as I search for images pertaining to my collection wanting always to be true to the methods etc ....yet I am not looking for my art to be photogarph quality, I believe art should be art and this means having something to say yes ... but also be done how the artist would like to do it ....welll do keep following my threads on my blog as I paint away and share what I can , .....thanks to those I can count on my hand... that are supporting me as I paint you are indeed .....gems..... I will not forget ....

NEW WORK

Well today being another day spent at doing one of the many pieces ,,,for my exhibition this year .2011...this one took only a day and a few hours to complete, however the natural light had to be captured before I could begin painting..........many artist paint at night... or in the full glare of the sunlight... I dont fall into either mold ,as I paint when the natural light streams into my work room , .....once this takes place its painting time , ........the piece I have just completed is the same size as all the others.... all themed pieces , ........I will feel good when I have around 10 pieces completed, in all..... I am now at 5, fully completed pieces in watercolour ......I never go back to a piece to do anything with it ...once its completed its completed .......the error in going back to a piece is that one will automatically over do it or place some odd thing in it that it will be spoilt .......after working so many hours I do not intend to spoil the piece I have created , ......if I uploaded my work here of the new pieces then there will be no fun in seeing the new work of this year ....still working on a name for it ,as yet no name has come to me , ....all the pieces remained unsigned strange ... but I will do this as I name them all ... well do follow me here as I enter my blog with my joys and feelings of painting , ....

Art being worked on now

well I have been working on my 2011 collection, of paintings recently , today I was working on one, the work is extensive , all the pieces will be in a theme, I love doing work related to themes the theme that I have chosen ,I will not share right now , neither will I be sharing any of the work that is images on my website here, facebook or anywhere else , this is just how I am when it comes to works,,, for an exhibition. This year I have the exhibition carded for November ,last week in that month to be carried over to December . The exhibition will be a shared one with two other artist ,in completely different styles , so it will be very interesting to view all the work , by all three of us .
When I am working on a body of work I am into it mind and soul , I research pieces working from photos , as well as from actual drawings ,,,that I will make of each piece , I am very disciplined with doing the work I need to have completed , will most likely exhibit around 20 pieces or more , unlike the last exhibition not one piece is small.... all are beautiful sizes , and will make a grand display in offices to homes .
Working in watercolour only for this exhibition , no other medium , this is my favoured medium , and I work well in it and I have had excellent reviews, from galleries abroad as well as art collectors abroad concerning my methods .
The watercolours I am doing right now , take many hours of work, but to say that I dont enjoy this will be a lie .having been asked if I work in the night.... the answer is indeed no ..as the colours are different remember folks,,,, I see with one eye, I paint without my glasses as well .
The shadows etc I do for each piece is not done in black... but in the line of indigo colours .
Do I draw out everything ? no I cant , at least not with a pencil ...I have been taught to paint with the brush straight onto the paper hence the work is all drawn with my brush .... always remember that watercolours are the most difficult medium of all .....mistakes.... cannot be made as the piece will be ruined , well I hope to post my thoughts ,feelings, etc on my blog about my art as I do the pieces ..... Can anyone guess the theme I am doing ?

Country house in Trinidad

The Valencia house or country house ..........is a watercolour and has been sold ,I enjoyed working with this piece especially the various greens and blues , I tend at times to be detailed in my work , this year 2011, I am undertaking an exhibition of old houses from country side homes to homes, located or once located in the Port of Spain area of Trinidad and Tobago , ......last year 2010 was a year for seascapes ,and art projects ,do hope you enjoy the piece here i am available for comissions , just contact me ........
